The United States has outlined travel and visa requirements for football fans planning to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico, as the tournament prepares to kick off from June 11 to July 19 across major North American cities.
According to the U.S. Department of State, fans travelling to the United States for the tournament must possess valid passports and appropriate travel documents, while visitors from countries outside the Visa Waiver Programme will require B1/B2 visitor visas.
The US government also introduced the FIFA Priority Appointment Scheduling System (PASS) for fans who purchase tickets directly from FIFA, allowing them to secure visa interview appointments before the tournament begins.
The tournament, which will feature 48 teams for the first time, will hold matches in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Toronto, Vancouver, Mexico City and Monterrey.
Nigeria will not participate in the competition after failing to qualify, while Nigerians and citizens of some other countries remain subject to limited US entry restrictions under Presidential Proclamation 10998.
The US Department of State advised intending visitors to begin visa applications early, stressing that visa appointments do not guarantee approval or entry into the country.
