FG Urges Startups on AfCFTA

The Federal Government on Tuesday urged Nigerian startups, innovators and entrepreneurs to apply for the 2026 African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Startup Acceleration and Partnership Programme launched by the AfCFTA Secretariat, the Republic of Korea and the Korea-Africa Foundation to promote trade, innovation and business partnerships.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the government said the programme would support about 30 African startups across fintech, digital commerce, manufacturing, logistics and agriculture.

It said selected participants will receive mentorship, business acceleration support, capacity building, market exposure and investment opportunities in South Korea.

The ministry encouraged qualified Nigerian startups with scalable business models to take advantage of the programme to expand their businesses.

Interested applicants are to apply via the official AfCFTA website before the May 31, 2026 deadline.

The ministry said the initiative aligns with Nigeria’s commitment to youth entrepreneurship, innovation and regional economic integration.
