INEC registers 1.05m voters for Ekiti poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday said 1,059,360 voters have been registered for the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, following the completion of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise in the state.

INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, disclosed this in Ado-Ekiti during the presentation of the voter register to political parties.

He warned parties, including the APC and PDP, against vote-buying and other electoral offences, stressing that campaigns must focus on issues and not attacks.

According to him, over 2,000 cases of double registration were removed through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System to protect the credibility of the register.

Amupitan assured residents that votes would count during the election, adding that INEC had strengthened the use of technology and electronic transmission of results to improve transparency.

He also urged eligible voters to participate peacefully in the election across the 16 local government areas of the state.
