Former FCT Minister, John James Udoedehe, on Thursday said rising poverty, unemployment and inequality in Akwa Ibom State pushed him to join the 2027 governorship race on the platform of the African Democratic Congress.
Speaking during a media chat in Uyo, Udoedehe said the level of hardship in the state remained alarming despite huge government allocations.
He criticised the state government over poverty and unemployment, insisting that development in Akwa Ibom does not reflect available resources.
The former APC National Secretary also dismissed claims that he joined the race for financial gains, describing the allegations as propaganda.
Udoedehe expressed confidence that the ADC would perform strongly in the 2027 election, citing the political successes of leaders like Alex Otti and Chukwuma Soludo after multiple attempts at office.
