Napoli Rejects €65m Galatasaray Bid for Osimhen

Napoli has turned down a €65 million offer from Turkish club Galatasaray for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, according to reports from Italy.

The offer, which aimed to make Osimhen’s loan move permanent, fell short of the €75m release clause in his contract.

Galatasaray’s bid was limited by Osimhen’s current release clause, which is set at €75 million for clubs in the winter transfer window. However, due to the clause, Galatasaray could still acquire Osimhen for the same amount. If another club attempts to sign him, his release clause would rise to €81 million during the winter window, as a result of a €6m compensation that the Turkish club would receive.

Osimhen has enjoyed a successful spell in Turkey, scoring 16 goals and providing five assists in 20 appearances for the Super Lig leaders. His form, following a brilliant 2022/23 season with Napoli, has increased his value in the transfer market. Despite speculation, in December, Osimhen stated his commitment to staying with Galatasaray for the remaining season, stating his intentions to discuss any future moves after his loan period ends.

“I will not leave in January, I am at Galatasaray until the end of the season. I do not know what Galatasaray and Napoli are talking about afterward, but if they come to me, we will talk”, he said.
