NDLEA Busts Nigeria-Mexico Drug Syndicate

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested 10 suspects and seized drugs and chemicals worth over N480bn after dismantling a Nigeria-Mexico methamphetamine syndicate operating a secret laboratory in Ogun State.

NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, disclosed this on Wednesday during a briefing in Abuja.

He said operatives uncovered and shut down the meth laboratory hidden inside Abidagba forest in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State during coordinated raids in Ogun and Lagos on May 16.

According to Marwa, the syndicate was jointly run by Nigerian traffickers and Mexican collaborators brought into the country to produce methamphetamine.

The agency said three Mexican nationals and several Nigerian suspects were arrested during the operation, including the alleged cartel leader, Anochili Innocent.

Marwa added that the operation led to the recovery of 2,419.48 kilograms of methamphetamine and precursor chemicals.

“This network did not just traffic drugs; they were actively manufacturing industrial-scale quantities of illicit substances in Nigeria,” he said.

The NDLEA warned that it would continue targeting drug cartels and urged Nigerians to report suspicious activities in their communities.
