FCCPC asks Nigerians to report housing disputes, acts on Abuja estate companies

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has urged Nigerians experiencing housing-related disputes to report such cases, stressing that consumer protection extends to real estate transactions.

In a statement on Monday, the commission said it had taken enforcement action against Paradise Estate in Abuja following complaints from homebuyers who alleged they paid in full but were yet to receive their properties.

The FCCPC said developers must honour agreed timelines or provide clear explanations and lawful remedies where obligations are not met.

It added that transparency and accountability are critical to maintaining confidence in the housing sector, noting that buyers often commit life savings based on developers’ promises.

The commission advised affected consumers to submit evidence of payment and related documents through its official complaints portal for investigation.
