President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday said no religion supports banditry or the killing of innocent people, urging Nigerians to embrace peace, love and unity during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Lagos.
Tinubu spoke after observing Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks, where he said the season symbolises sacrifice, obedience and respect for human life as taught by Prophet Ibrahim.
“Nowhere in the holy teachings does it say you should engage in banditry or take a human life,” the President said.
He urged Nigerians to reject ethnic hatred, discrimination and violence, stressing that the country’s strength lies in unity and shared humanity.
Tinubu also called on citizens to support the less privileged and remain tolerant and law-abiding.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Governor Babatunde Fashola and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu joined the President for the prayers.
