Kogi CP Orders Strict Enforcement of Third-Party Insurance

Kogi State Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye has instructed full enforcement of the mandatory third-party insurance policy for all vehicles in the state.

A statement issued on Saturday by Command’s Public Relations Officer SP William Aya stated that this directive follows the order of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and officially began on February 1, 2025.

According to Aya, the CP noted that the enforcement aims to ensure road safety and adherence to insurance laws for both vehicle owners and road users.

“The CP emphasized that this enforcement aims to enhance road safety and ensure that all vehicle owners comply with insurance regulations designed to protect both motorists and other road users.”

The Commissioner has emphasized the need for officers to carry out the enforcement in a professional manner, maintaining the standard procedures as outlined. He also called for cooperation from the people of Kogi State, noting that failure to comply with the insurance requirement could lead to legal consequences.

The Commissioner has urged vehicle owners to secure valid third-party insurance to avoid any inconvenience during the enforcement period. All divisional police officers, area commanders, and tactical commanders have been instructed to ensure the full implementation of this policy, with an emphasis on maintaining high professional standards throughout the enforcement campaign.
