Olajumoke ‘Oni Bread’ Makes a Powerful Return to the Spotlight

Olajumoke Orisaguna, famously known as “Oni Bread,” has made an impressive return to the public eye after an eight-year hiatus. The bread seller-turned-model captivated the audience once again at the recent Pan African 10th Music Fashion Runway (MFR) event in Lagos, where she confidently walked the white carpet, showing a new chapter in her career, one far removed from her humble beginnings as a street vendor.

Her return to the runway has sparked mixed reactions, with some applauding her for reviving her modeling career, while others criticized her lack of formal education. In response to these critiques, Olajumoke shared her personal struggles, acknowledging that her limited education had significantly impacted her career. She revealed that financial mismanagement and exploitation by former managers were consequences of her educational setbacks. Reflecting on her past, she admitted that a proper education could have spared her from being misled by unscrupulous individuals.

Olajumoke’s story takes a heartbreaking turn when she recounts her experiences with a former manager who led her to South Africa for a documentary. Despite the travel expenses being on her, she was only given a meager N50,000 upon their return to Nigeria. It was during this challenging period that key figures like Aunty Azuka and photographer TY Bello stepped in to offer support, providing her with financial and emotional aid when she had nothing left.

Having learned from her painful past, Olajumoke is now using her platform to inspire others. She launched her radio show, “Kilon Shele,” on City FM, where she shares both the triumphs and tribulations of her journey. Through this show, Olajumoke aims to uplift others facing similar hardships, proving that even in the darkest times, there is always hope for a better future. Her story is a testament to resilience and the importance of education, a message she shares with her audience, urging parents to ensure their children have access to education regardless of financial struggles.
