In a continued effort to strengthen collaboration between the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and security agencies, the National Treasurer of NANS Headquarters paid a working and familiarization visit to the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni.
The visit provided an opportunity for constructive engagement on issues affecting Nigerian students, with particular emphasis on students’ welfare, the safety and security of campuses, and the need to sustain a peaceful academic environment across Kogi State.
During the meeting, the NANS National Treasurer comrade Idris Asmawu Omeiza appreciated the Commissioner of Police for the unwavering commitment of the Kogi State Police Command to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and ensuring the safety of students within and around tertiary institutions in the state.
The discussions also focused on strengthening the existing relationship between NANS and the Nigeria Police Force through improved communication, intelligence sharing, and collaborative initiatives aimed at addressing security challenges affecting students.
In his remarks, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, psc, mni reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to partnering with NANS and other critical stakeholders to guarantee the safety of students and promote a peaceful learning environment. He assured the delegation that the Kogi State Police Command would continue to support lawful student activities and respond promptly to security concerns on campuses.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to fostering mutual cooperation, enhancing students’ welfare, and ensuring that educational institutions remain safe, secure, and conducive for learning.
Together, through collaboration and proactive engagement, we can build safer campuses and a better future for Nigerian students.
