In an Instagram video, reality TV star and actress Bambam opened up about an experience where she intervened to save a suicidal mother of three in Malawi. The woman was reportedly on the brink of taking her life due to her husband’s alleged infidelity and emotional abuse.
According to Bambam, while on a movie set, she heard cries for help and rushed to find the woman attempting to hang herself from a GP tank. The situation revealed the extent of the woman’s suffering, as her husband had been using emotional manipulation and neglect to frustrate her, leaving her feeling utterly isolated and hopeless.
Bambam urgently called for assistance, asking her followers to recommend rehabilitation centers and suicide watch resources for the woman and her children. “Please, guys, for the safety of women, our mental health, and our children, I need someone to recommend a rehabilitation center.”
In response to her plea, the Lagos state authorities took over the case, ensuring the safety of the woman and her children.
“I have spoken to @justadetoun and Lagos state has taken over the case. The woman and her three sons are safe”, she said.
Expressing her gratitude, Bambam shared an update, thanking those who rallied to support the family. She urged others to speak out against domestic violence and call out for help and community support
“I’m at peace now. Prolonged exposure to domestic violence, both physical and emotional, can lead women to have mental breakdowns. Speak up and look out for women around you. Lagos, Nigeria thank you”, she noted.
