Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has opened up about the significant challenges faced by female artists in the music industry, touching on issues that go beyond music itself. He emphasized that these women often face emotional, spiritual, and professional hurdles, which can affect their careers and personal well-being.
The rapper pointed out that female artists are often subjected to unwanted attention and pressure from producers, managers, and other industry figures. He spoke about the emotional toll this takes, noting how such challenges could distract women from their goals.
He also noted the unique pressures faced by female artists like Tems and Ayra Starr. He shared that these women often go to great lengths to avoid harassment, such as dressing conservatively in the studio or being cautious of making a producer angry.
“Tems has to wear big clothes to go to the studio because everyone wants to fuck her, Ayra Star the same thing. This person is meant to make a hit record and she’s thinking about how she would not make the producer not like her so that he can just focus on what she’s doing as a girl.”
The rapper expressed his concern over how some women in the industry might feel forced to compromise their values or personal integrity in exchange for success or fame. He warned against the temptation to accept shortcuts or exploitative offers, suggesting that maintaining patience and staying grounded in faith is essential to achieving lasting success.
“But there are so many of those girls that agree, that if Don Jazzy kiss me I don blow, how? Who told you Don Jazzy wants to see you, then you’ll na go and open leg for one idiot that will use you, take away your destiny, take away your star, just because of a couple of bucks, because you’re not patient, you don’t want to wait for your time.”
“So you girls, you hold on to God, even babes in the creative space not just music, hold onto God cause, Niggas are monsters dog eat dog baby, so when you hold on to God, all these things they cannot move you, all of them that work against you, they’ll na start working for you, they’ll say ‘That girl no dey gree make anybody toast am, me I just help.’ But you sha help am”, Odumodublvck said.
